Manic Mania is a free action video game for PC by the independent developer, Softlock Games. It is a first-person shooter game that features vibrant colors and cartoon-style graphics. It was created in 7 weeks and was submitted for competition in the ASU Game II Game Jam event.

Just like SUPER IS HOT, Manic Mania is a game that features a unique art style and a colorful palette to go along with its fast-paced shooting. In it, players will need to think fast and make quick choices as they fight against waves of enemies through multiple rounds.

How do I play Manic Mania?

The first thing that you will notice when you first launch Manic Mania is just how vibrant and colorful the game is. It features an original soundtrack and fully hand-drawn and animated artwork, too. This first-person shooter revolves around the idea of 'upgrades' to power your weapons and changes the way you fight, with 35 unique and stackable options to choose from.

You get 3 upgrade options every round to pick from for your weapon. However, for every upgrade you choose for yourself, you will also need to choose one for your enemies. Manic Mania basically lets you dictate how fights will go down. Hence, depending on the combination, you might end up with the ideal weapon to counter your enemies, or you could find yourself at a disadvantage.

Lastly, the game features a round-based progression system that you can work your way through to be able to unlock the optional ending that it features. Alternatively, you can play endlessly and see how long you can last. Apart from that, though, the only thing that Manic Mania needs to fix and address is some UI scaling issues that make it hard to see some elements on the screen.

Wacky, vibrant, and a lot of fun

All in all, Manic Mania is a game that offers simple, mindless fun and entertainment for some quick play sessions. The controls are easy to learn and its unique upgrade mechanic makes for some interesting weapon combinations and scaling gameplay difficulty. If you just want to kill some time and have a blast while doing it, this game is worth a try.
